I’m finally back with a crafting update. I’ve been busy since Christmas working to finish this quilt for my newest granddaughter who was born on February 21, 2016. We are going to Nebraska to meet her this coming Monday, so the pressure was on to finish her quilt. I started it back in September but was also working on another quilt that needed to be done in November, and then along came Christmas, so the Woodland Cozies quilt was set aside quite some time. The original idea for this quilt was from a post on a quilting forum with bears in beds. I didn’t want all bears, so I had to scout out other animals. I didn’t have a pattern to follow, and made all the appliques from pictures found on the internet. Since I didn’t have a pattern, I was stumped with the layout and deciding what fabrics to use for the sashings. At the last minute, before joining all the rows, I decided to add some applique hearts using my embroidery machine and fabrics from the different blocks in the quilt. I’m quite pleased with the result. We’ll see how new mommy Emelie likes it.
