Table scarf for deck table

This fabric jumped into my cart last week, together with quite a few other fabrics … and became this simple hemmed square for my deck table.

Gifting money

I used this tutorial as the inspiration for gifting money to Iris for Valentine's Day. She is saving for a school trip in a few years. She is in a German emersion school, and their class trip will be to Germany. The $1 bills were taped together and rolled up inside an empty tissue box with notes attached that said "Everyone NOSE you're saving for a trip"; "So we PICKED this gift for you"; "It SNOT what you think"; and at the end of the money chain, a note that said "$20 to save for your trip and $5 to BLOW on yourself". And the hair clip is one I made for her years ago (her middle name is Peace). Nice to see her wearing it!

Art smock

The front ...

I used this tutorial to make an art smock for Julia. It will be her birthday present later this month. I wanted to make the neck a little smaller, so I cut a slit in the back to allow for room to slip over her head. I also put ties on the sides rather than using Velcro. Cute oilcloth for children's items is a little scarce, but I did fine this cute cat print. It was pretty soft and supple compared to other oilcloths too. I hope to get a picture of Julia wearing it to add later.

The back ...

Valentine's Day cards

Poppies for Emelie; Tulips for Shirley;
and Daisies for Leslie.
These motifs are designs of Leslie Teare which
were published in Cross Stitch Gold magazine.

With Valentine's Day coming up, I wanted to get some cross stitch motifs ready for cards. Last year I didn't have time, and made machine embroidery cards. I liked them, but am glad to have made the cross stitch ones this year. I made 7 cards. Two are for Leslie and Emelie and their husbands; one is for a dear friend; and 4 are for the grandchildren (even one for Valentin who is only a little over a month old).
"Love" for Iris; Bluebird for Sonja; Bear for
Julia (chart by Durene Jones); and owl for Valentin
(chart by Stickeule).
