Grandmother's Secret Chair

The pattern for this little chair is called Grandmother's Secret Chair. A forum friend shared her pattern several years ago, and I made one for Iris at that time. This one is for Julia for her 4th birthday. It's the largest of three sizes on the pattern. I had made Iris the middle sized one. The picture next to a tissue box shows the actual size. It has a pull tab at the back of the seat cushion which opens a secret compartment perfect for a little girl to hide her treasures.

The pattern is available in a vintage book: "Scrap Saver's Christmas Stitchery".

This is the one I made for Iris in 2017.

  1. Cute little chairs! Grandma use to make pin cushion chairs out of tuna cans.

    1. I've seen these used as pincushions, too using the space under the seat for a spool of thread, needles, etc.
