Prayer shawl

Here's a prayer shawl that I just finished. I will save it for a time when a loved one is suffering an illness or tragedy to let them know I am thinking of them and praying for their health/comfort.

  • Yarn: Premier Yarns Sweet Roll (Category 4)  3+skeins (I think I will have enough of the 4th skein to knit a herringbone cowl.)

  • Color: Peanut Butter

  • Needles size: 10.5

  • Pattern:  I cast on 74 stitches. It turned out a little narrower than the size I usually make, so next time I would cast on more stitches to make it about 24" wide. I used the one-row scarf pattern and finished the ends with three rows of stockinette and three rows of reverse stockinette, repeated twice. I liked the effect, but next time I might remove a few stitches first as it seemed to stitch out a little wider than the shawl.

Coasters

I went to change quilts on the family room couch and discovered that I was missing one of the coordinating coasters that goes with it. It seemed easier to make a couple more than to move furniture and cushions trying to find the wayward coaster. I was able to find leftover fabric from the quilt. Another reason I love my stash!

Knit hat and scarf for cat wine bottle

My cat wine bottle (should give her a name ... Goldie?) got a new winter hat and scarf so she wouldn't look so Christmassy. I used some leftover sock yarn that had I used for a scarf for Emelie. And I do love my little pom-pom maker!

Gift wrapping

I decorated the box for the wedding gift to fit the beach theme of the wedding pulling out some fabrics and shells, and made a card on the computer. A fun project and makes me glad I have a little crafting stash on hand.

Casserole carrier

This is another wedding gift. This one is for a friend's daughter who was married in October. They are hosing an open house on Friday in honor of the couple, so I will take this gift.

I found the tutorial online. I had a piece of fabric that I wanted to use, but there wasn't enough of it, so I combined it with another fabric. The tutorial didn't include a strap to secure the top, but it was mentioned that it would be a good addition, so I added one. This will fit a 9x13 inch pan.

Knit afghan/wedding gift

Happy New Year!

This is my first post of the new year, but I did finish knitting this afghan before Christmas. This will be a wedding gift for my Niece and her fiancé who will be married in February. I knit it in my favorite yarn, Lion Brand Heartland using a new pattern which I found online called Lace Chevrons. The pattern is sized for a baby afghan, but I adjusted the number of cast-on stitches to make an adult afghan.

Pattern: Lace Chevron

Yarn: 6 skeins Lion Brand Heartland

Color: 26 - Sequoia

Needles size 9

Cast on 167 stitches
